Tom Anthony wins first game as PSU Football Head Coach

PITTSBURG, Kan. -- Pitt State Football enters year one of the Tom Anthony era. Pittsburg State hired Anthony this past December to replace former Head Coach Brian Wright who accepted a job at Northern Arizona University.

The Gorillas opened the season by defeating one of the top teams in the country. Pitt State beats Ferris State 19-3 in a low scoring ballgame. The win marked number one for the Gorillas new head coach.

"Our guys were ready," said Coach Anthony, "they were prepared for this. They've been busting their butts all offseason and all through camp. Just when we started diving into the Ferris State stuff a few weeks ago, I could just tell they were hungry, and they were ready to get rolling."

Coach Anthony and the Gorillas will now prepare for their first MIAA match up this Saturday when they face rival Missouri Southern in Joplin. Kickoff for the Miners Bowl is scheduled for 7:00 pm at Fred G. Hughes Stadium.
