Second round of Kansas Water Plan local consult meetings scheduled

(KOAM) - Governor Laura Kelly has announced the dates for the second round of local consult meetings focused on implementing the 2022 Kansas Water Plan.

“Preserving the quality and quantity of our water is an existential issue for our state,” Governor Kelly stated. “These meetings will help build a program that provides the collective, coordinated action on water conservation and quality that communities across Kansas need, in both the short and long term.”

During the meetings, attendees will have the chance to engage in facilitated group discussions on several key topics:

    • Updated investment scenarios based on earlier feedback
    • Criteria for evaluating investment strategies to meet the Plan’s goals around aquifers, reservoirs, and water quality
    • Setting objectives and identifying reasonable actions to achieve them
    • Preferred revenue sources to fund these objectives

The Kansas Water Office, Kansas Department of Agriculture, and Kansas Department of Health and Environment will conduct the meetings across the state from Tuesday, September 17th, through Monday, September 30th. Residents are encouraged to attend a meeting in their region:
