Man rushed to hospital after Carterville house fire

CARTERVILLE, Mo. (KOAM) — About 7:45 p.m. Friday evening reports of a fire at 305 Pearl alerted Jasper County E-911.

Carterville Fire, Carterville Police and METS responded. Webb City, Duenweg and Oronogo responded as mutual aid.

Firefighters reported heavy smoke on arrival coming from a second floor with a person trapped.

They were able to rescue the adult male and he was transported to an area hospital priority (lights and sirens) with unknown injuries.

The fire was due to an upstairs window/wall style AC unit.

Liberty responded to control electric until repairs could be made.

Sources on Saturday say the man was eventually transported to a Springfield, Mo. hospital for a higher level of care.
