MCDONALD COUNTY, Mo. (KOAM) -- McDonald County Schools are hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony in celebration of its new storm shelter.

According to the school, the shelter is part of the $21.5 million bond issue passed by voters in 2022, which will provide protection for Pineville Primary students and staff.

"We are incredibly grateful to our community for supporting this bond initiative," said Lacey Wolff, Principal of Pineville Primary School. "This new storm shelter gives our students and staff the safety they deserve, and the multi-purpose room will offer endless opportunities for both school activities and community events."

The schools say the newly opened offices for the district's Student Services Division will provide workspace for students and staff.

    The ribbon-cutting will begin on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at 10 a.m.

KOAM will be at the event and will have more on KOAM News.
