Carthage Dog Park grand opening welcomes in furry friends

CARTHAGE, Mo. (KOAM) - It was a morning of fun and wagging tails at the grand opening of the Carthage Dog Park at Municipal Park on Tuesday, Sept. 26.

The new park offers a place for pets to exercise, play, and socialize off-leash.

Access to the park requires an annual membership, priced at $20 per household.

The fee helps cover ongoing expenses and allows for future upgrades to the facility.

The membership-based system also promotes safety by tracking pets and ensuring that all dogs have up-to-date vaccinations from a licensed veterinarian before entering.

In celebration of the park’s grand opening, anyone who signs up for a membership this year will not need to renew until January 2026.

Memberships are available at the Carthage Parks & Recreation Office at 407 S. Garrison Ave​.
