    Police pursuit ends 1st and Jackson, K9 Vice tracks suspect to residence a block away

    JOPLIN, Mo. (KOAM) — Just after 10:30 p.m. Friday evening Joplin Police attempted to stop a suspect DWI driver near Junge and Jackson Ave. The silver SUV did not stop so JPD initiated a pursuit.

    Speeds were more than 100 mph at times traveling along North Main to Zora and Lone Elm.

    After about 20 minutes the SUV stopped at 1st and Jackson and the single occupant of the vehicle, male, fled on foot.

    Joplin Police set up a perimeter and waited for K9 VICE to arrive. When he did, he got the scent and led them straight to a residence about a block away.

    There was a short contain and call-out and the male was taken into custody.

    Sgt Thomas Bowin tells KOAM’s Shannon Becker no one was injured.

    The SUV was towed by Coats Towing.
