    Historic military vehicle convoy to roll through Southeast Kansas

    CRAWFORD COUNTY, Kan. (KOAM) - Southeast Kansas will soon welcome a convoy of historic military vehicles as part of the Military Vehicle Preservation Association's "History In Motion" tour.

    The convoy, which travels along the old Jefferson Highway from the Canadian border to New Orleans, will be passing through the region on October 14-15.

    The convoy will arrive in Fort Scott on October 13 before moving into the Arma, Pittsburg, and West Mineral areas over the following two days. Several public viewing events are scheduled:

    • Monday, October 14: The vehicles will be on display at Franklin Community Park from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., hosted by Miners Hall Museum.
    • Monday, October 14: Later in the day, the convoy will stop at the Crawford County Historical Museum in Pittsburg from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for another public viewing.
    • Tuesday, October 15: The final local stop will be at Big Brutus near West Mineral from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors can enjoy free admission to Big Brutus starting at 3 p.m. in honor of the convoy.
