PITTSBURG, Kan. (KOAM) - The Pittsburg State University Jazz Ensemble will launch its first concert of the season at 7 p.m. on Oct. 16 at the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts.

The performance will feature nine arrangements, offering a mix of big band standards and contemporary jazz tunes for the whole family to enjoy.

"I'm super excited for the audience to hear the fruits of the students' labor," said Professor Todd Hastings, the ensemble's director. "They have worked very hard and have risen to the level that this mature program requires."

Among the songs on the set list is "Fever," which will showcase vocalists Jocelyn Goodwin and Jude Wolfe. Other tunes include "Acronym Blues," "Come Fly with Me," "Queen Bee," "Groovin' Hard," and "Brazilian Affair."

The concert is free and open to the public.
