    Suspicious death investigation underway; body found in Tar Creek

    UPDATE : The GRDA identify the body discovered in the waters of Tar Creek on Wednesday as Harold Stroud , 39, of Tulsa , Okla. GRDA spokesman Justin Alberty told KOAM's Shannon Becker the ME (Medical Examiner) had transported the body as part of their investigation into the cause of death.

    Once again Miami Police state there is no threat to the public or to the neighborhood where he was located off Veterans Blvd.

    OTTAWA COUNTY, Okla. (KOAM) - Authorities are working the scene where a man's body was found around 9 a.m. Wednesday by two passerbys near 22nd NE at the Tar Creek Bridge in Ottawa County.

    Sheriff David Dean confirmed a male body was found in Tar Creek. He tells KOAM the Grand River Dam Authority has jurisdiction.

    According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, the GRDA has requested its agency to help investigate the suspicious death crime scene.

    The area was reopened to the public about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Justin Alberty of GRDA tells KOAM’s Shannon Becker at that time the body has been transported by the ME (Medical Examiner).

    We are told they believe it is an isolated incident. There is no ongoing threat to the public.

    The Miami Police Department is also working the case.

    "22nd NE is closed at the Tar Creek bridge. The police department is working a scene on the bridge and it will be closed for several more hours. Please avoid the area to avoid traffic congestion."
