Watered Gardens to host 12th annual Empty Bowls presales event

JOPLIN, Mo. (KOAM) - Watered Gardens Ministries is set to host the 12th Annual Empty Bowls presales event at the Local Color Art Gallery in Joplin, MO, on Saturday, October 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This year’s event will feature an exclusive showing of handcrafted pottery by local artist Mark Strayer.

The Empty Bowls initiative, reminiscent of the soup lines of the 1930s, is a grassroots fundraiser aimed at combating hunger in communities worldwide. Patrons can purchase a unique pottery bowl, enjoy a serving of soup, and take home an empty bowl as a reminder of those in need.

Proceeds from the event will support local organizations dedicated to feeding the hungry, including Mission Joplin, We Care of the Four States, Hope Kitchen, and Watered Gardens. Since its inception in 2000, Watered Gardens has been committed to helping the poor through the local church.

Generous sponsors for this year’s event include Mercy of Joplin, SMB, Seward’s Insulation, Binky Guy, Jordan CPA Services, Missouri Eye Institute, Joplin Greenhouse & Coffee Shop, Suzanne’s Natural Foods, Satterlee Plumbing, and Superior Steel Sales.

Join the community for this meaningful event to help combat hunger and support those in need.
