Nissan recalls nearly 40K cars over rearview camera malfunction

(KOAM) - Nissan North America has issued a safety recall for certain 2024-2025 Nissan Rogue and 2025 INFINITI QX80 models due to a rearview camera malfunction.

The recall affects 37,236 vehicles, as a software error may cause the rearview camera to display a blank screen when the vehicle is in reverse, which fails to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 111 for "Rear Visibility."

    Nissan Recall

The loss of the rearview camera image increases the risk of a crash by reducing rear visibility for drivers.

Nissan will address the issue by providing a free over-the-air software update or by updating the in-vehicle infotainment system at a dealership. Owners will be notified by mail starting November 21, 2024.

For more information, customers can contact Nissan customer service at 800-647-7261 or INFINITI at 1-800-662-6200.

For further details, including updates on the recall, owners can also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
