    Firefighters injured amid Town Gulch Fire response

    PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Two firefighters were injured during a response to the Town Gulch Fire in Baker County, authorities said.

    As part of the statewide response to the fire following Governor Tina Kotek invoking the Emergency Conflagration Act on Tuesday , the Marion County Fire District #1 responded as part of the Clackamas County task force.

    On the way to the fire, an off-road engine vehicle known as a Type 6 apparatus , rolled over. The Oregon State Fire Marshal’s office said in a release that two firefighters “sustained non-life threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital for evaluation.”

    Closures planned for Hawthorne Bridge

    “An Oregon State Fire Marshal agency representative is with the firefighters and Marion County Fire District #1 Chief Kyle McMann is on the way to support,” OSFM said. “The cause of the rollover is under investigation. Our thoughts are with the injured firefighters.”

    The Town Gulch Fire east of Baker City has Level 3 evacuations in place.

    It grew by thousands of acres on Tuesday night, threatening hundreds of homes, officials said.
