PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — Henry Hagg Lake reopened to recreational activities on August 12 as the Lee Falls Fire continues to burn on the southwest end of the lake.

As of Monday afternoon, the Lee Falls Fire is 290 acres in size and 50% contained, the Oregon Department of Forestry told KOIN 6 News. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office downgraded evacuation orders on Sunday, allowing Cherry Grove residents to return to their homes. Residents are still advised to “remain vigilant” as wildfire conditions can change.

“Saturday’s work made sufficient progress to increase confidence that the fire will stay within its current perimeter,” the WCSO stated.” After consultation with fire officials, that confidence led to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office reducing all Level 3 evacuation levels.”

Washington County Parks said that it is “excited” to welcome visitors back to the park after following the weekend closure.

“We appreciate the public’s cooperation as first responders worked on the Lee Falls Fire,” Washington County Parks shared. “We are excited to be open [during] our normal hours.”
