    KOIN 6 News to host Lori Chavez-DeRemer vs Janelle Bynum debate

    PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — US Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer and her Democratic challenger Janelle Bynum will hold three televised debates in October, beginning with a debate hosted by KOIN 6 News.

    The KOIN debate, set for Tuesday, Oct. 8, will be moderated by Political Director Ken Boddie. The second debate will take place two days later at KTVZ in Bend with the third debate on Oct. 15 through Central Oregon Daily.

    Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer on the fight for Oregon’s 5th District

    Chavez-DeRemer is seeking her second term representing Oregon’s 5th Congressional District. She is one of two Republican US representatives from Oregon. Bynum, currently a State Representative in District 39 , won the Democratic primary to set up this race.

    In a statement to KOIN 6 News, Bynum said she looks “forward to debating Lori Chavez-DeRemer and hearing her explanation for going to Washington and prioritizing extreme partisan politics at the expense of Oregonians.“

    She said she would share her record “of protecting reproductive rights, lowering costs and creating good-paying jobs in the state legislature, and my vision for Oregon.”

    On Tuesday, DeRemer launched her first TV ad of the campaign, titled, “Getting Things Done for Oregon,” part of a $2.3 million ad buy placed by her campaign.
