Man hospitalized after series of crashes on Highway 26

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — Traffic was slowed on Highway 26 Thursday afternoon after a series of crashes sent one person to the hospital, authorities said.

According to Portland police, a vehicle hit a tractor-trailer near the Oregon Zoo exit and when the driver got out to check the vehicle, he was hit by another car.

He was taken to a hospital and authorities said they believe he is likely to survive.

The driver of the car who hit the man stayed at the scene and is cooperating.
