PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — Another popular fast food joint is looking to expand in Southwest Washington.

On Wednesday morning, Shake Shack confirmed its plans to open a location in Vancouver — although a spokesperson told KOIN 6 the burger chain is “still a bit away from opening.”

As first reported by The Columbian , the company’s sixth Washington restaurant will be found on 2100 SE 164th Ave in the Fisher’s Landing Marketplace that also holds New Seasons Market.

The chain’s other Washington locations are spread across Lynnwood, Bellevue, Kirkland and Seattle.

According to officials, Shake Shack first applied for a tenant improvement building permit for the Vancouver space on June 20. City spokesperson Tim Becker said the permit was approved on Tuesday.

Because the business is replacing another restaurant, Shari’s Cafe and Pies, Becker explained that no land use review is required outside of the new sign that will be installed.

Shake Shack isn’t the only fast food spot working to serve Vancouver residents.

Since Apr. 15, In-N-Out Burger has been in the commercial development pre-application phase for a potential spot in the former Rite Aid space on 13511 SE 3rd Way in the Fircrest neighborhood.

Additionally, Vancouver welcomed Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers on 12601 SE 2nd Circle just last month.
