    How foxtail grass poses danger to dogs

    PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — You’ve probably seen it along the walking paths around Portland and on your hikes around the state. Right now, that seasonal grass can cause big problems for your pets.

    It’s called foxtail and it’s very common in the western United States.

    For one local Boston Terrier by the name of Maggie, it meant a trip to Dove-Lewis Veterinary Hospital.

    Dove-Lewis certified vet tech Jessica Waters joined AM Extra with more on Maggie’s case and what made her operation particularly difficult. Additionally, she discusses how to keep pets safe from foxtail and what people can do should their pet run into it.
