PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — Clark County Public Health has lifted an advisory for Lacamas Lake after water samples showed toxin levels from a recent algae bloom have dissipated completely.

Warning signs are now being removed, officials said.

“However, harmful algal blooms may return as conditions change,” Clark County said in a release. “Public Health encourages people swimming and recreating in the lake to watch for floating scum and avoid direct contact with water in those areas.”

The advisory related to algae bloom toxins at Round Lake issued last week is still in place. Public Health said that a recent water sample taken at Round Lake shows toxin levels are decreasing and that they may lift the advisory if it continues to decrease.

An algae bloom toxin advisory was also given for Vancouver Lake earlier Thursday.

The toxins pose health risks if they are ingested, inhaled or make contact with skin.

Earlier this month, a dog reportedly died after ingesting water that had algae bloom toxins in Columbia County, Oregon, off of the north point of Sand Island.
