PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — A man is in custody after allegedly slashing dozens of tires in Northwest Vancouver over the weekend.

Vancouver police confirm that, to date, 36 tires were slashed sometime between Friday night and Saturday morning.

Bryan Southard, who had his car parked in a lot on Northwest Kauffman Avenue, got in his car to get a cup of coffee early Saturday morning and found his tires had been stabbed twice.

Then, as it got lighter outside, he saw four of his neighbors had also had their tires slashed.

“I mean, you can’t imagine that any of us, you know, deserved anything like that. And so I was dumbfounded,” he said.

Further, when Southard walked down the street, he found even more damage.

“You could see the guy’s path. You could see it was so random. That he would stab a car tire, stab another one, stab two on one across the street,” he recalled. “And then I literally walked down the road and then I saw a side street where he had gone that way, followed it up, went to the next road. And it was just amazing, it was about 14 cars in total.”

Officers eventually arrested the suspect, Colwin Kent, on Saturday and he was booked on a charge of first-degree malicious mischief.

However, officials say there are possible additional charges pending investigation.
