PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Clark County Public Health has reinstated an advisory for Lacamas Lake due to harmful levels of algae toxins and they are lifting an advisory for Round Lake.

This comes just one week after the Lacamas Lake advisory had been lifted after samples showed toxin levels below the state threshold.

The latest Lacamas Lake sample, conducted on Monday, “revealed cyanotoxins above the threshold levels recommended by the Washington Department of Health,” Clark County said in a release.

Warning signs are now being placed around the lake.

Officials warn cyanotoxins can be harmful, especially to young children and even deadly for small pets that drink it . People are advised to follow these recommendations:

    • No swimming or water skiing.
    • No water contact for animals.
    • Avoiding areas of scum when using motorized boats, paddle boarding, kayaking or canoeing.
    • No drinking lake water.
    • Cleaning fish well and discarding organs.

Public health officials said they are lifting the advisory for Round Lake in Camas as the latest water samples showed the water quality has improved and the toxin levels are no longer elevated.

However, a warning advisory for algae toxins remains in place for Vancouver Lake .
