PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A rapidly growing wildfire in Klamath County prompted Level 3 “Go Now” evacuations to be put into effect, officials said.

The Copperfield Fire was estimated to be around 2000 acres as of 8 p.m. Sunday, officials with the South-Central Oregon Fire Management Partnership said. Gov. Tina Kotek invoked the Emergency Conflagration Act for the fire that is east of Chiloquin off Sprague River Road.

A total of eight task forces have been mobilized for this fire, including two from Lane County and Central Oregon that are already at the scene.

Southern Oregon is under a Red Flag Warning through Monday night.

“The weather drove this fire, and Oregon will continue to face challenging weather conditions over the next three weeks. Fire season isn’t over yet and I encourage everyone to stay vigilant,” Chief Deputy Travis Medema said in a statement. “I cannot thank our incident management teams and task forces headed to this fire enough. They have had a busy season and responded no matter the time, no matter the situation.”
