PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) – The City of Portland has proclaimed September 7 as Keep Portland Weird Day – celebrating the Rose City’s “unique and imaginative spirit,” the nonprofit Weird Portland United announced in late August.

To celebrate the proclamation, Oaks Park is hosting Portland Weird Fest and will present the official proclamation to Music Millenium Owner Terry Currier , also known as “the father of Portland’s weird movement.”

The fest will be held 12-5 p.m. Sept. 7, kicking off with the proclamation ceremony at 12:30, followed by eccentric performances, booths for art exhibits, oracle readings, and even spots to get a weird tattoo.

“This celebration is our way of embracing and honoring the creativity and individuality that make Portland a cultural beacon. We invite everyone to join us for this day of fun, creativity, and community,” Weird Portland United said in a press release announcing the proclamation.

“Weird Portland United, the only non-profit organization dedicated to all things weird, is excited to host the inaugural Portland Weird Fest,” the organization told KOIN 6 News on Tuesday. “This will be a fantastically quirky celebration of all things delightfully odd! From noon to 5 PM, immerse yourself in a whirlwind of eccentric performances, outlandish characters, and eclectic bands. Explore our Gigantic Brewery Beer Garden and discover a treasure trove of unique vendors. Dive into interactive fun with Weird Trivia, Weird Bingo hosted by Korny the Chicken, and a Weird Pie Eating Contest.”

Tickets for the Weird Fest are available online , Weird Portland United said, adding, “If you aren’t weird when you get there, you will be when you leave.”
