    Man arrested, accused of stabbing person to death in Astoria

    PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — A man has been arrested and accused of murder in Astoria, authorities said.

    Stephen G. Foxon, 58, was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder, first-degree assault, first-degree burglary and unlawful use of a weapon, the Astoria Police Department said in a release.

    The stabbing was reported in the early morning Saturday at Helping Hands at 286 W. Marine Drive. Police responded after “several residents of Helping Hands awoke to the sounds of a struggle” at 2:15 a.m., the release said.

    Missing nurse’s remains found, arrest made

    Witnesses said they saw “Foxon stabbing the victim” then called for assistance and rendered first aid until police and fire arrived, police said.

    Foxon, a former Helping Hands resident, was located on the Riverwalk and taken into custody at 2:39 a.m.

    The victim, whose name has not been released by police, was taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital in an ambulance, where he was pronounced dead.

    Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Astoria police.
