    ‘Go Now’ evacuations for areas near Mt. Bachelor

    PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Level 3 “Go Now” evacuations were issued Saturday afternoon for areas near Mt. Bachelor, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office said.

    The “Go Now” evacuation is for the Backside Fire , west of Mt. Bachelor. Officials said the evacuation includes Mt. Bachelor, Todd Creek Horse Camp, Sparks Lake, Devils Lake, and Quinn Meadow area.

    Mt. Bachelor suspended all operations for the rest of Saturday “due to active fires in the area and extreme fire risk.” Officials with Mt. Bachelor added they will remain closed on Sunday and plan to re-open on Thursday (their regular fall hours.)

    A Level 2 “Be Set” notice is in effect for the Firestone Fire south of Pine Mountain near the Lake County line.
