PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — The Washington County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Negotiations Team seized roughly 6,600 pounds of weed worth an estimated $6 million from a property on Tongue Lane on Sept. 3.

Deputies served a search warrant on the property after a citizen reported a strong marijuana smell coming from the property.

“A community member notified the Sheriff’s Office that the pungent odors of marijuana were coming from the location,” the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said. “Initial information was circulated to community members that the area was a storage facility for hemp, which turned out not to be true.”

Deputies suspect that the raided property was operating as an illegal marijuana processing. The Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at the same location in 2022 for similar circumstances. The property subsequently changed ownership.

The marijuana seized on Sept. 3 was marked for destruction, the sheriff’s office said.
