PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — A Clackamas County resident has been indicted for a crash that resulted in two deaths in Marion County in 2023.

A Marion County Grand Jury indicted Porfirio Perez Martinez for two counts of criminally negligent homicide for the deaths of two Portland residents, Lisa Rohrer-Boylan and Joan Rohrer. Martinez was arrested and lodged at the Marion County Jail on Sept. 6, 2024.

The crash happened on Sept. 9, 2023, near St. Paul. It involved two vehicles: a refrigerated commercial box truck allegedly driven by Martinez and a Buick sedan.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said they responded at around 5:40 p.m. to reports of a crash near the intersection of McKay Road Northeast and Case Road Northeast.

Investigators said the Buick was traveling east on McKay Road Northeast while the box truck was traveling west. The crash happened after the box truck allegedly left its lane and collided with the other car.

Lisa Rohrer-Boylan, the driver, was pronounced dead at the scene. Joan Rohrer, the passenger, was “transported to a Portland area hospital via LifeFlight where she was later pronounced deceased from her injuries,” a Marion County Sheriff’s Office release said.

Martinez was also transported to Newberg Hospital and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials said the investigation took a year to complete, after which the case was presented to the grand jury.
