    Suspect arrested after Downtown Portland theft, chase

    PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — A suspect is in custody after authorities said they stole several items in Downtown Portland before threatening people with a gun and fleeing the scene.

    According to Portland police, officers responded around 7:45 a.m. to the 300 block of Southwest Washington Street where they learned that the suspect had stolen the items and caused a disturbance.

    It was then that officials said he went to a nearby vehicle and grabbed a gun which he used to threaten people before driving away.

    Officers said they found the vehicle and pursued it to near Northeast 136th Place and Northeast Clackamas Avenue where they boxed in the vehicle and arrested the driver.

    During the pursuit, authorities said that another car was hit, but there were no injuries.

    No other details were immediately available.
