    Portland weekend events: Theo Von, Bloody Mary Festival and more

    PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — Fall is around the corner, and this upcoming season is already proving to be just as jam-packed with events as the summer.

    City of Portland ‘optimistic’ about Keller remodel, new PSU auditorium talks

    Geek Week Craft Extravaganza

    When: Friday, Sept 13 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
    Where: DIY Bar, 3522 N Vancouver Ave, Portland, OR 97227

    DIY Bar is hosting a Geek-Week-themed craft night where participants can “delve into a world where every stitch is a spell, and every tool a wand of creation.” Attendees can design their own flasks, plant pots, passport holders and more.

    Theo Von – Return of the Rat

    When: Friday, Sept. 13 at 8 p.m.
    Where: Moda Center, 1 N Center Ct St, Portland, OR 97227

    Louisana-born Theo Von, host of the podcast “This Past Weekend,” is bringing his stand-up comedy to the Rose City. The comedian is also known for his appearances in MTV’s “The Challenge” and his 2021 Netflix special “Regular People.”

    Oregon Science Festival

    When: Friday, Sept. 13 through Sunday, Sept. 15
    Where: Multiple locations

    Organized by the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, the Oregon Science Festival concludes this weekend. The event’s final three days feature a butterfly-pinning class, earthquake preparedness workshop and sea otter trivia.

    Major League Table Tennis

    When: Friday, Sept. 13 and Saturday, Sept. 15 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 15 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
    Where: Viking Pavilion, 930 SW Hall St, Portland, OR 97201

    Watch teams from the professional table tennis league face off on Portland State University’s campus. The Portland Paddlers will compete against the Bay Area Blasters, Princeton Revolution and Florida Crocs.

    The Bloody Mary Festival

    When: Saturday, Sept. 14 from 3:45 p.m. to 6 p.m.
    Where: The Redd on Salmon, 831 SE Salmon St, Portland, OR 97214

    This festival puts a spotlight on a classic brunch drink, or hangover cure: the bloody mary. One $54.50 ticket covers unlimited bloody marys from local businesses like Screen Door, Fireside and Mother’s Bistro and Bar. It also includes other drink samples and food.

    “Clueless” – ‘90s Day with Soundtrack Listening Session

    When: Saturday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m.
    Where: 3530 SE Division St, Portland, OR 9720

    The Portland Art Museum’s Tomorrow Theater, which was previously an adult theater, will screen ‘95 cult classic “Clueless” starring Alicia Silverstone. Before the movie begins, guests will have 30 minutes to dance along to songs from the soundtrack.

    El Grito

    When: Sunday, Sept. 15 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., through Monday, Sept. 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 0 p.m.

    As National Hispanic Heritage Month kicks off on Sunday, the Pacific Northwest’s largest celebration for the month will offer a variety of Mexican food, mariachi performances and more.
