PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — Although Friday’s skies will stay mostly dry, there’s another few rounds of rain in store for the Portland area this weekend.

Here’s a snapshot of the current forecast’s timeline:

    Friday evening

The work week will wrap up with dry conditions and pleasant afternoon highs in the 70s. However, clouds start to increase Friday night. A few sprinkles may hit the coast before midnight.

    Saturday morning

Sprinkles star to arrive in the Portland metro area around 6 a.m. in the Willamette Valley.

    Saturday afternoon

Rain showers are fully in swing Saturday afternoon as a weak front arrives in the area. There’s a potential for an isolated downpour or two, but it won’t be widespread.

    Sunday in Portland

The skies are drying out over the Portland metro area, with temperatures in the upper 60s, making things feel like fall. There will likely be plenty of dry time on this day to enjoy getting outside.

Sunday in other parts of Oregon

The weak front that hit Portland on Saturday is now bringing unsettled weather and potential thunderstorms in central and eastern Oregon. Although the rain is welcome, lightning could be an issue as wildfire crews continue to battle other lightning-caused fires.

    Next week

More rain is expected to hit the region on Tuesday – and that storm could bring more widespread and soggy moments than the weekend. Showers are also likely to carry over into Wednesday.

Another factor to consider: cooler-than-normal temperatures. The current forecast calls for temperatures in the 60s midweek; however, the extended forecast shows warmer and drier weather next weekend.
