Damian Lillard returns to Portland to accept community impact award

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — Damian Lillard is expected to return to Portland to accept an award Friday night in honor of his decade with the Portland Trail Blazers and his impact on the city .

The Rip City legend will join the Maurice Lucas Foundation’s 14th Annual Celebration Dinner to accept the “Bill Walton Community Impact Award,” the first of its kind for the organization.

“We will be presenting the first-ever Bill Walton Community Impact Award to Damian Lillard, who embodies Bill Walton’s spirit of excellence, perseverance, and community engagement,” the foundation shared on its website .

The award ceremony comes after Lillard’s departure from the Trail Blazers to be traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in September 2023 . He had spent 11 seasons in Portland and remains the franchise leader in points and 3-pointers.
