    Person hit by Mazda, critically hurt; Driver arrested

    PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A person in a mental health crisis who was jumping in front of cars trying to get hit was critically injured after being hit by a driver who was later arrested for DUII.

    The crash happened shortly before 3 a.m. near 1700 Northeast Lombard, Portland police said. At least one driver avoided the pedestrian before being hit by a blue Mazda, whose driver stopped and remained at the scene.

    That driver, identified as 36-year-old Ashley N. Brodkorb, was booked for DUII, second-degree assault and reckless driving.

    The pedestrian, whose name has not been released, remains hospitalized with “an unknown prognosis,” authorities said.

    Northeast Lombard Street was closed between NE 13th and 22nd closed during the initial investigation.

    What would someone be doing on Lombard walking at this time? It’s essentially highway speeds at that location and there isn’t really a sidewalk. Hopefully they’re alright!
