PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — Two Oregon men were arrested in California last week after an officer found a significant amount of cocaine in their vehicle during a traffic stop.

On Sept. 7, a California Highway Patrol officer stopped the two men in their car for a traffic violation just north of Fresno.

After questioning them, officials say the officer found probable cause to search the vehicle, where he found around 37 pounds of cocaine. Authorities say that amount of drugs has an estimated street value of $1.3 million.

As a result, 24-year-old Tyler Lee Smith of Philomath, Oregon and 20-year-old Angel Pacheco of Albany, Oregon were arrested.

Both were booked into the Merced County Jail on charges of possession of cocaine for sale, transportation of cocaine across non-contiguous counties and conspiracy to distribute cocaine.
