PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Portland State University Vikings announced their Saturday game against South Dakota has been canceled due to a case of whooping cough.

The two teams had been set to meet for the first time at Hillsboro Stadium.

According to Portland State, the team was exposed to the disease two days ago.

While the Vikings said “no one is seriously ill at this time,” medical staff from both teams determined they should not play the game out of caution.

The Vikings added information about ticketing and refunds would be announced later.
