PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) – Power issues at the high school in Jefferson have forced the administration to send students home early Monday morning.

The Jefferson School District 14J announced the early release around 8 a.m. when the building began experiencing “unforeseen power issues at the high school that are impacting our ability to conduct classes and provide lunch services.”

PPS has many 100+ years old school that have not been updated in generations. It’s not the teachers, it is the administrators who are misspending and misusing funds. We have 30+ kids in some of our classrooms and by law we should have more teachers. It takes months of letters and group visits to the state capitol to get a teacher (we did this 2 years ago, they gave us one teacher, yay!). This will be the 2nd year we have had a part time art teacher. Many roles in our school are filled by volunteers. Plus we have been raising money for new playground equipment for 8 years. We live in the Mt tabor neighborhood, so neighborhoods don’t matter, we are all getting screwed.
