    3 arrested after warrant yields stolen mail from over 200 victims

    PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — Three people were arrested Monday a search warrant on a Salem apartment yielded stolen mail belonging to well over 200 people, according to police.

    As part of a larger ongoing investigation into mail thefts in the area, Salem police served the warrant at an apartment in the 3700 block of Orchard Heights Road NW.

    Authorities say the search uncovered stolen mail belonging to over 200 people and other pieces of evidence “related to mail theft and forgery-related crimes.”

    As a result, police arrested 31-year-old Ashley Wood, as well as 45-year-old Christopher McPherson and 27-year-old Anthony Ormonde.

    Wood was charged with identity theft, first-degree forgery, criminal possession of a forged instrument, mail theft and an outstanding warrant out of Marion County. Both McPherson and Ormonde were charged on outstanding warrants.

    Salem authorities say they will work with the United States Postal Inspection Service to return the mail to the rightful owners.
