PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — Two teenagers are in custody Thursday morning after one pointed a gun at another person near Reynolds Middle School, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers responded to the 1200 block of NE 201st Avenue in Fairview just after 10 a.m. The schools nearby were placed in secure mode while police investigated the area, according to school officials.

“The initial incident happened in front of Reynolds Middle School on the sidewalk,” MCSO told KOIN 6 News. “The suspect ran away from school property and was taken into custody in the area around NE Glisan St. and Fairview Pkwy.”

The secure mode was lifted once the two juveniles were arrested, the sheriff’s office said. MSCO said the two teens — aged 16 and 17 — were arrested with two handguns in their possession.

The suspect in this case was initially located in a vehicle that was being driven by another person. When deputies arrived, the suspect got out of the vehicle and ran away. He subsequently got into a second vehicle, also driven by another person, that drove away. When a patrol unit attempted to stop that vehicle, the suspect got out, ran away on foot again and was eventually located and taken into custody. The driver of the second car was also taken into custody.

Sounds like it was planned in advance with several kids involved. Today's world doesn't offer them much. Jesus will sort it all out when the time is right.
