Police identify young man killed in Old Town shooting

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — The man killed in a shooting in Portland’s Old Town earlier this month has been identified, police said.

Just after 3:30 a.m. on Sept. 4, officers responded to Southwest 3rd Avenue and Ankeny Street on reports of a shooting in the area.

On arrival, they were told a man – identified as 21-year-old Malik Wilkerson – had been taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.

Officials say Wilkerson later died at the hospital from his injuries.

The Medical Examiner confirmed he died of homicide by gunshot wound.

There have been no arrests in the deadly shooting. According to PPB, the suspect — or suspects — had fled the scene before police responded.
