Police delay response to NW Portland crash which hospitalized 1

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — Police were delayed in responding to two-car crash in Northwest Portland which left one hospitalized early Saturday morning.

Authorities said an ambulance passing by the area of Northwest Glisan and 16th Avenue reported the crash just before 2:30 a.m. EMS soon responded and took one person to the hospital.

A PPB officer responded to the scene just before 4:30 a.m. and found those involved in the crash had left the area.

Officials say when the officer went to check on the the crash victim at the hospital, they had already been treated and released.

According to PPB, the delayed response to the crash was due to limited staffing and numerous calls which included a shooting.
