PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — Following public testimony last month, the Portland City Council unanimously rejected an appeal to block a new Live Nation venue.

The appeal was filed by MusicPortland, which said that increased traffic, loss of cultural identity in the area and negative impacts from Live Nation are reasons to block it.

However, the commissioners determined that the officer who granted the land use made the right decision.

The proposed venue in Portland’s Central Eastside is planned to have 1,300 seats.

Live Nation is currently the subject of an antitrust lawsuit by the Justice Department for allegedly killing competition and monopolizing the industry.

If MUSICPORTLAND HAS A PROBLEM WITH A LIVE NATION VenuWHY DON'T THEY HAVE OR BUILD THEIR OWN VENU? FOR THE LOCAL TALENT OF PORTLAND AND OREGON?MUSICPORTLAND DOESN'T WANT TO EXPAND THE MUSIC Options OF MUSIC FANS?I THINK THE MORE BANDS THAT COME TO PORTLAND WOULD BENEFIT THE PEOPLE AND THEY CITY MIGHT GET BANDS THAT DON'T HAVE ANYWHERE ELSE TO PLAY.
