PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) – A woman in Poulsbo, Washington called for help after dozens of raccoons showed up at her house demanding food on Oct. 3, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the woman had been feeding the raccoons for nearly four decades. However, the woman told law enforcement the raccoons became more demanding a few weeks ago.

CBS affiliate KIRO in Seattle reported that the woman sought help, but was quoted $500 per raccoon in order to trap and relocate them. With an estimated 100 raccoons, that would total to at least $50,000.

Deputies referred her to the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife for assistance.
