    KOIN 6’s Oregon 5th District debate: What to know about the rules

    PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — Tuesday night is Debate Night for Oregon’s 5th District on KOIN 6.

    Here’s what you need to know about the debate between incumbent U.S. Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer and Democratic challenger Janelle Bynum.

    The debate will be moderated by KOIN 6 Political Director Ken Boddie and questions will come from panelists Todd Unger, a KOIN 6 anchor, and Patrick Malee, a Portland Tribune reporter.

    Each candidate will get one minute for a response.

    If we decide to follow up, or a rebuttal is needed, each candidate will get 30 seconds.

    At the end of the debate, which will feature one commercial break, each candidate will get a one-minute closing statement with no rebuttals.
