PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) – A Yacolt landlord is facing an attempted murder charge after being accused of shooting one of his tenants with a shotgun Tuesday night, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrived at the residence near NE Beaver Brook Road and Eagle View Road after receiving a 911 call from the victim’s family member saying he had been shot in the head “unprovoked” around 8:15 p.m., according to authorities.

The man was immediately taken to a hospital by ambulance and remains in “serious but stable condition,” officials reported Wednesday afternoon.

An investigation revealed the victim and his family had been living at the residence and that “they had a contentious relationship with their landlord and housemate,” identified as 50-year-old Jeremie Singer, according to the sheriff’s office.

According to deputies, the victim had left the residence for several days before returning on the evening of the shooting to “gather some belongings.” Officials said Jeremie shot him in the face and chest with a 12-gauge shotgun through the house’s front window.

Singer was arrested and lodged at Clark County Jail. He faces charges of first-degree attempted murder constituting domestic violence and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.

Two days before the incident, deputies had responded to the residence due to “a landlord/tenant dispute involving the two families.” Investigators said Singer and the victim had also recently claimed threats against each other.

Nice landlord, maybe we got this wrong. Maybe we should charge Landlords some astronomical price for a background check before paying any application fee!
