    Wanda Sykes: Please & Thank You Tour

    Wanda Sykes, one of Entertainment Weekly’s “Funniest People in America,” is bringing her stand up to the Rose City. The Emmy winner is known for her writing and cameos in “The Chris Rock Show” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

    Candi Pop – A Bubblegum Pop Dance Party

    When: Friday, Oct. 11 at 9 p.m.
    Where: Holocene, 1001 SE Morrison St, Portland, OR 97214

    Candi Pop, a bimonthly dance party with pop music, is returning to music venue and nightclub Holocene. This time around, the 21+ event encourages attendees to celebrate the spooky season for the Halloween edition.

    Tinder Live With Lane Moore

    When: Friday, Oct. 11 at 8 p.m.
    Where: Polaris Hall, 635 N Killingsworth Ct, Portland, OR 97217

    New York comedian Lane Moore is celebrating the 10th anniversary of her popular show “Tinder Live.” In each city, she browses the dating app and cracks jokes as the audience tells her whether to swipe left or right on each profile.

    Building Bridges: A City Archives Open House

    When: Saturday, Oct. 12 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
    Where: City of Portland Archives & Records Center, 1800 SW 6th Ave, Portland, OR 97201,

    For American Archives Month, officials are inviting residents to go through Portland’s records and uncover the city’s history. This open house includes trivia games, behind-the-scenes tours of the records center and an oral history booth.

    We Are Sacred: An Indigenous People’s Celebration

    When: Saturday, Oct. 12 from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
    Where: Native American Student Community Center, 710 SW Jackson St, Portland, OR 97201

    Portland State University’s Native American Student Community Center is holding a free, day-long celebration of the Indigenous community and culture. The event includes Indigenous vendors, performances until 6:30 and a play at 7:30 p.m. A ticket is required for the play.

    “Jennifer’s Body” Hosted by Hannah May Cumming

    When: Sunday, Oct. 13 at
    Where: Tomorrow Theater, 3530 SE Division St, Portland, OR 97202

    Monstrous Femme Films founder Hannah May Cumming will host this screening of “Jennifer’s Body,” the 2008 horror comedy starring Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried. “Throw on your old prom dress or a Jennifer Check costume and revel in this cult classic that was way ahead of its time!” Tomorrow Theater said.

    Halloween Ball

    The Judy’s first family-friendly Halloween Ball of the year will feature a costume parade, interactive live story time and a dance party. This event is best for children aged 4 and up.
