PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) – The mother of a child who died of a suspected fentanyl overdose in Northeast Portland back in September has been linked to an armed carjacking after the child’s death, as well as a man police shot in a standoff, court documents say.

Mary Jacobo was arrested in Seaside on Tuesday, after officials reported she was on the run while “armed and dangerous.” She appeared in court Friday on charges related to the carjacking.

According to court documents, she and Jesse West both pointed guns at a driver in a carjacking at the Delta Park Vanport Transit Station on Sept. 26.

That same day, West was later shot and wounded by police as they attempted to arrest him.

All of this reportedly took place two weeks after the death of Jacobo’s 2-year-old daughter, Aurora Fernandez on Sept. 12.

Jacobo had been on the run for almost a month before her arrest. In that time, Portland police say she may have committed several other crimes in addition to the carjacking.

Authorities also report Jacobo was in possession of a pistol at the time of her arrest.

Both Jacobo and West are now in police custody.

Jacobo is facing charges of first and second-degree robbery, unlawful use of a weapon, coercion, felon in possession of a firearm, unauthorized use of a vehicle and menacing.
