PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A power outage caused by a crow left thousands in Southeast Portland without electricity Sunday morning.

According to Portland General Electric, calls started coming in at around 8:45 a.m. reporting widespread outages. At one point, their site showed over 8,000 people without power.

The utility company said the outage was due to “an equipment issue at one of their substations” in the area caused by the crow. As a result, crews were required to de-energize the substation.

PGE originally estimated power would be restored at around 11:30 a.m. Sunday. It took a little longer but as of 3:30 p.m., only 18 customers were without power.
