    Portland Film Festival, ‘Wicked’ musical among things to do this weekend

    PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — It’s finally starting to feel like fall, and Portland event organizers are going all out with seasonal festivities and other gatherings.

    Consider spending the best part of the week at one of these events scheduled through Sunday.

    Erykah Badu set to headline Biamp Portland Jazz Festival’s first arena show

    Dance Through the Decades

    When: Friday, Oct. 18 at 9 p.m.
    Where: McMenamins Crystal Ballroom, 1332 W Burnside St, Portland, OR 97209

    Portland DJ Gregarious will spin top 40s hits from the 1990s to the 2020s, focusing on a different decade at the start of each hour. Party-goers are encouraged to dress in clothing inspired by their favorite decade.

    Portland Film Festival

    When: Friday, Oct. 18 through Sunday, Oct. 20
    Where: McMenamins Kennedy School, 5736 NE 33rd Ave, Portland, OR 97211

    The Portland Film Festival is continuing to support independent voices by screening nearly 80 indie films through the weekend. Audiences will see original movies from local and visiting filmmakers.

    OryCon

    When: Friday, Oct. 18 through Sunday, Oct. 20
    Where: DoubleTree by Hilton Portland, 1000 NE Multnomah St, Portland, OR 97232

    Oregon’s “oldest literary and creative convention” has brought science fiction and fantasy creators together since 1979. Online registration is closed, but interested attendees can still register in person.

    Positively Portland

    “Wicked”

    When: Multiple times from Friday, Oct. 18 through Sunday, Oct. 20
    Where: Keller Auditorium, 222 SW Clay St, Portland, OR 97201

    The opening weekend of “Wicked” will bring the Land of Oz to the Keller Auditorium. The original Broadway production of the iconic musical won three Tony Awards, and the movie adaptation starring Ariana Grande is set to premiere in just a few weeks.

    Halloween Movie Nights

    When: Saturday, Oct. 19 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
    Where: Midtown Beer Garden, 431 SW Harvey Milk St, Portland, OR 97204

    Midtown Beer Garden will host a family-friendly and dog-friendly screening of a spooky movie that has yet to be announced. In addition to free popcorn, the pod also offers 27 food carts and a fall bar.

    Spirit of Halloweentown: The Ghostly Voyage

    When: Saturday, Oct. 19 and Sunday, Oct. 20 from 10:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
    Where: 431 SW Harvey Milk St, Portland, OR 97204

    If you’ve been hoping to visit Halloweentown without the hassle of parking, Portland Spirit is offering a roundtrip from the Rose City to St. Helens. A $110 ticket covers admission for Halloweentown’s haunted house, alien meet and greet, Oddities Museum and more.

    Bridal and Wedding Expo

    When: Sunday, Oct. 20 from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
    Where: Portland Expo Center, 2060 Marine Dr W, Portland, OR 97217

    Still searching for a dress, DJ, or venue for your special day? The Bridal and Wedding Expo will have it all, with a variety of exhibitors coming to the Portland Expo Center.
