MARSHFIELD, Mo. – A Marshfield business owner tells OzarksFirst her trash wasn’t picked up for three weeks.

What happened this week in Springfield 100 years ago

Not only did she say the dumpster was overflowing at her business, but also at her home in Niangua where she contracted with the same company – Cards Recycling.

“We’ve been picking up trash most of the week, trying to just pick up what blows over because there’s rodents, there’s birds, there’s pests everywhere,” said Mechelle Fitzgerald.

When OzarksFirst crews drove down Fitzgerald’s street in Niangua, the bins were still out front and looked like they had all been emptied except for a few.

After three weeks of no service and three phone calls, she says her dumpster was emptied Wednesday morning.

“They told me I was on a delay,” Fitzgerald said. “So I said, ‘Well, why?’ They said that their truck broke down and they couldn’t come get my trash.”

Fitzgerald said her neighbors in Niangua were also experiencing the same problem until Friday.

“Take care of each other and go and get something done,” Fitzgerald said. “So that’s what I did.”

Fitzgerald said she found a new trash service this week and now she’s fighting back after Cards Recycling, who now owns Pederson Trash Service told her she owed $400 for two months of service where the company did not pick up her trash.

“I told them that I wasn’t going to pay it because I found another company because I can’t have trash around my business like this,” Fitzgerald said.

OzarksFirst called Cards Recycling and was unable to reach anyone after being placed on hold.
