SENECA, Mo. – Seneca and other parts of Newton County in Western Missouri are under a tornado warning Wednesday afternoon, May 8, at 3:15 p.m.

Newton County Emergency Management shared a photo from the Seneca Police Department showing a funnel cloud in the sky in Seneca.

The National Weather Service has not yet confirmed whether it touched down in Seneca, but across the state line in Miami, OK, this same supercell did produce a confirmed tornado before lifting.

Early damage reports from Miami, OK, are starting to flood in as this system did structural damage to various homes and garages within the region.

This is only the starting hour of a potentially very long and threatening night as we can continue to see more supercell thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes throughout the evening.
