Friday, August 9: Coldest summer weekend of 2024

Well, the nice weather keeps on rolling. High temperatures have been trapped in the lower 80s for three straight days now. For the people wanting even more, I have some great news for you. The rare August air is going to stick around for the weekend.

I like our chances to stay dry this weekend, however, there is a slight chance of rain to the southwest on Saturday and Sunday. Rain chances look higher Sunday over Saturday with more of southern Missouri and northern Arkansas impacted. The widespread cloud cover will keep highs in the upper 70s and low 80s. Morning lows will be in the upper 50s to low 60s.

A stalled front will lead to an active weather corridor with rounds of scattered storms early next week. Rounds of clouds and scattered storms are possible nearly every day next week making the high-temperature forecast tricky. Generally, high temperatures should gradually warm from the upper 70s and 80s early in the week to the low 90s by Thursday.

Heavy rainfall of 1″ to 3″ with localized spots at more than 3″ is possible with the rounds of rain next week. Flooding and severe weather are both a possibility at times next week.
