    Wednesday’s flooding leads to road closures in the Ozarks

    Heavy rainfall across the Ozarks on Wednesday has led to multiple road closures. The counties most impacted are Douglas, Wright, Howell and Ozark counties in Missouri.

    Wright County

    • Route AB eastbound closed due to water over the roadway.
    • Route Z northbound and eastbound is closed due to flooding.
    • Route E northbound and southbound is closed due to flooding.

    Douglas County

    • Route EE southbound and northbound is closed due to flooding.

    Howell County

    • Route K westbound and eastbound is closed due to flooding.
    • MO-142 eastbound and westbound is closed due to flooding.

    Ozark County

    • Highway H southbound and northbound is closed due to flooding.

    Heavy rainfall began Wednesday morning and continued into the early afternoon. The heaviest of rain fell in a swath One report showed over 5″ of rain northwest of West Plains. Radar estimates show as much as 7.5″ of rain southwest of West Plains.

    Rainfall totals around Lake of the Ozarks were less, but radar estimates show up to 2″ on the eastern edge of the lake. North of Lebanon picked up 2.4″ and near Rolla 3.9″ of rain fell.

    More rain is in the forecast for Thursday, when a round of thunderstorms and heavy rain will be possible.
